Hello everybody, I am encountering problems with the release policy of OpenERP.
There have already been major changes between the 5.0.1 and the 5.0.2. minor release, transforming completely the reporting engine; this release introduces also major regression bugs, such as the disappearance of the support of the RML tag 'expr'. I can understand the fact that Tiny wants to rapidly develop and deliver improvements to the community, but I believe that OpenERP is an ERP, not a simple contact manager. You can not say “Hello everybody, I just released version 5.0.3" and at the same time let the partners joyfully discover all the regression bugs (for example: the import with db ids is broken). I mean, if you want to have regular releases, it is okay for me but, first release an RC version or a Gold version (frozen version that will be distributed afterward) for at least two weeks in order to give time to the partners to eventually fix/adapt the modules, and test all the workflows. This MUST be done, because there are major commits done in stable version and the unit test set is still quite small. I was writing a unit test module for l10n_ch but I now wonder if I will continue doing so as it might not be any use to my team any longer, since we have no time to fix the eventual bugs the system will found before the release.
