I'm starting to develop a module that aims integrates OpenERP to existing POS solutions. The draft specification can be found at:
http://www.bluwiki.com/go/OpenERP_POS The reason for "another POS" module is that in Brazil (and probably other places) there are a lot of different legal and hardware needs that is not implemented in OpenERP. Those needs are very hard to implement (like credit card accreditation, fiscal accreditation, touchscreen, RFID, recipt printer interfaces, etc.). However, there are a lot of cheap and working POS solutions, better suited for vertical markets, that would require little effort to integrate. My goal, then, would be to create a set of XML inbound and outbound documents that would be integrated into OpenERP using the "Messaging" pattern. Each transaction generates a "message", which would be routed to the proper destination. This POS interface would also be extensible to support good localization. As said, the specification is in draft state and I started to build the XML schema (which I shall publish soon).
