Not exactly, web cam if used as a barcode reader is being connected to the 
client computer and works as a generic barcode reader. There is no difference 
how to use it. Of course it is "poor man's" barcode reader, it is not useful 
for example in a supermarket. ;)

Still pretty interesting solution for using in a document management system or 
small shop when scanning at high frequency is not a must have feture comparing 
to a price.

Device can be connected in number of ways:
1) through separate service program on network to send data over to Open ERP;
2) directly implemented into Open ERP module (which is not recommended in a 
matter of architecture).
....other ways

We prefer first one, and other ways of connecting if it is defined by case. As 
I mentioned, we have connected several devices, there is no rocket science.
