Well, we do not have the same database running on both, so it's hard for us to tell the difference.
About building the windows version, we have setup a windows virtual machine (with Sun VirtualBox) that we use just for that so as not to disturb anything on a production or development computer. If you remove postgresql, you have to backup your database.
