I've published module base_model_dependencies at http://www.seathsolutions.com/download/ that might be generally useful.
It prints a list of Business Model dependencies, and is intended to answer the question "If I want to add some of these (e.g. Products), what else must I add to make it possible, and what else could I add to supplement the information ?" (So, for example, you can choose the Product model and find that it depends on Product Template and Product UoM, and could be supplemented by a mass of other stuff). The information is all available elsewhere in Open ERP, but I found this to be the easiest way to find it in one place. The module has been tested on a recent version of Open ERP on Debian and Ubuntu Linux, but I'm not aware of any particular platform dependencies so it should run on most things. I hope that it's useful, and would be grateful for feedback on this thread if you want to give any (I'll be monitoring it and responding from time to time as needed).
