Hi, is there a way to schedule a production order based on either sales orders
or delivery orders? I am currently investigating two ways for generating
production orders:

1.) Creating a Sales Order and then starting the Scheduler. The products are
Make-to-Order. Since there is not even a field i.e. for defining a delivery
date of products, the Scheduler just creates production orders according to the
amount of products sold, not considering the actual sales' delivery date. They
are just scheduled on the next day.

2.) Creating a Delivery Order and then starting the Scheduler. This only works
if products are Make-to-Stock and Minimum Stock Rules are defined (min/max set
to 0 because the product is actually a Make-to-Order product). This approach
doesn't work for Make-to-Order, no production orders are created at all.
In a delivery order, a can at least define a delivery date. However, since a
Make-to-Stock/Minimum Stock Rules approach is used, the Scheduler just creates
production orders according to the amount of products to be delivered in the
future all at once. They are just scheduled on the next day.

The reason for using an ERP is to keep inventory low. Suppose lead time is
zero, products should be produced as close as possible to the delivery date...

Is there a way to schedule production orders according to delivery date?

Thanks, Scholle
