on the (onchange) push a "try:  raise xxx"

A good example to use the try methods you can see is in "poweremail" module,
i took this module for reference because is very wel explained...

Tis desicions are taken by server not by view, remember that openerp is
absolutly "MVC"  this for this very simple things can complicate a little
but is very useful!
