Dear All, Let me reply to myself: First, the port issue was due - shame on me! - to the fact that the FreeBSD package filter (pf) wants to have port 8080 opened not only for access from the outside world, but also for access from within the fail. Hence, tcp port 8080 has to be open for incoming and outgoing packets coming from the jail address going to the very same jail address. hope this might help somebody in a similar situation.
Another issue with FreeBSD: OpenERP-web produces very long URLs. The standard settings for compilation of the python (version 2.5 or 2.6., does not matter!) port see the "larger thread stack" option disabled. Please do enable it! I have lost a lot of time due to crashed openerp-web instances, schoking on long URLs.
