I don't think symlinking is the only fix.

Try this guide... It worked for me.

Specifically the part about the libc.so

Be sure to keep a backup of the changes, or that pdf so you change back to
40 if need be.

I have some scripts to change back and forth, but it takes some more
instructions.  Email me if you need them.
