The Collection Tree Protocol (CTP), described in TEP 123, outlines one
approach. Each data packet contains the single hop transmitter's
estimate of its position in the routing gradient; if a node receives a
packet which seems to be from closer to the root, a loop might have
occurred and it takes steps to break the loop.
