hmm, usually there is an install step. Look for a file named "setup.exe".
What did you get when you un-tared the file?
Once that is all over with, you should have a BIG tree of stuff starting
at something like C:/cygwin. In that dir there should be cygwin.bat
which will start the bash shell.
I think the whole process is documented at: http://www.cygwin.com/

I m extremely new to tinyos. i am trying to install the same on windows,
according to the installation instructions at tinyos.net
<http://tinyos.net>. I have downloaded 'cygwin-1.2a.tgz'. The next
step given on the site is
'In a cygwin shell, unzip the above package into some directory. In
these instructions the directory is /cygdrive/c/newcygpkgs.
$ cd /cygdrive/c/newcygpkgs
$ tar zxvf cygwin-1.2a.tgz '
Now i do not know how to get the cygwin shell to run the above commands. !
This may sound nuts but can anyone help please?
