giri,
Under task manager, I do not see any of the processes (Palm Sync, XServe,
XSniffer) etc are still running. However, uisp stil stucks.
Under Windows XP, how can I know which process is taking over the serial
port, com1?
many thanks.

It sounds like the uisp is not able to proceed beyond the serial COM
port. If it did, then you will see output like
Firmware Version: 2.1
Atmel AVR ATmega128 is found.
....
....
Why restarting the PC solves the problem, I don't know. It could be that some
application is taking control over the serial port in the background. Next time
when this happens, try looking under task manager and see if any of the
processes (Palm Sync, XServe, XSniffer) etc are still running. If yes, Stop
them and see if the problem goes away.

Giri,
thanks for your reply.
I tried both "make mica2 reinstall mib510,com1" and "make mica2 reinstall
mib510,/dev/ttyS0". This time, it just stuck at uisp, like

this happens a lot in my machine. Sometime it works fine to upload the image.
But very often, it stucks a uisp.
I use mib510 and mpr400.
I have checked the connection, plug, etc. everything. every time this
happens, I have to restart the machine.
Is there anything I can do to know why this happens?
Thanks,
Chris

The command line arguments are case sensitive.
Try "make mica2 reinstall mib510,com1" or "make mica2 reinstall
mib510,/dev/ttyS0" instead and see if it works.

Hi,
I use MoteWorks, Tools/shell to upload lesson_1, as follows:

cp build/mica2/main.srec build/mica2/main.srec.out
installing mica2 binary using mib510
uisp -dprog=mib510 -dserial=COM1 --wr_fuse_h=0xd9 -dpart=ATmega128

Why I got " ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍýýýý ACKSTXBS" I have no clue at all.
MoteWorks works for me yesterday.
thanks,
Chris
