Hello everyone!

The avr-gcc version that comes with TinyOS is 4.1.2. I am working on
atmega128rfa1 and it is not supported by this version. The least version that
supports it is 4.3.2. Now i tried to install gcc-avr (version  4.3.3-1 as it
appears) using Synaptic package manager in Ubuntu and ended up getting errors
of the like

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/binutils-avr_2.18-4ubuntu1_i386.deb: trying to
overwrite '/usr/bin/avr-size', which is also in package avr-binutils-tinyos 0
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/gcc-avr_1%3a4.3.3-1_i386.deb: trying to overwrite
'/usr/bin/avr-gcov', which is also in package avr-gcc-tinyos 0

If any could help me and suggest some solution to this problem it would be
really appreciated.

Each day new devices are being released and older version of the gcc compiler
in the toolchain do not support these devices anymore. Why not we have the
latest versions of compilers and other necessary tools in the TinyOS toolchain.
It would definitely relieve many of us from troubles and errors. I would like
the community to discuss this topic.

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Sohail
