The AVR tool chain available on the install page is 4.1.2 Current is 4.7, Atmel recommends 4.6.2, and 4.3.3 is the minimum to support the atmega128rfa1
The avr-gcc tool chain seems to have been tweaked to work with TinyOS. Ones I have downloaded do NOT work. The Linux/ubuntu camp may be OK, but the cygwin version is dead.
