I was playing with test_sounder and tone_detect to see how they work and check the functionality of my sensor boards. The sounder makes quite an obnoxious noise, but the tone_detect does not detect it as-is. If I place my finger over the sounder, I can get tone_detect to hear the tone. I am not sure if it is the change in amplitude or frequency which affects the detector, as my ears believe both are in fact changed by the presence of my finger on the sounder. There seem to be a number of values which I could potentially tweak in tone_detect, but I am not sure where to start. Is my hardware not working correctly, or is this a normal occurrence? How do I go about fixing this so that detection actually works without my finger?
