Student Travel Grants for WUWNet 2010

Overview

WUWNet 2010 has received travel grants from Office of Naval
Research (ONR) and National Science Foundation (NSF), to
support student authors to present their work in the regular
sessions, and the work-in-progress poster and demo session
at 2010 ACM International Workshop on UnderWater Networks
(WUWNet'10) in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA September 30 -
October 1, 2010.

The goal is to broaden participation in the workshop by
supporting students with interests in underwater network
research who would otherwise be unable to attend.

The Call for Poster/Demo is at:

http://wuwnet.acm.org/2010/posters.php

Please consider a submission to the Poster/Demo session.

The Extended abstract due date is: Aug. 20 (Fri), 2010.

The tentative WUWNet technical program is now available at:

http://wuwnet.acm.org/2010/program.php

The registration information is at:

http://wuwnet.acm.org/2010/registration.php

Please consider early registration, on or before Sept. 9, 2010.

The amount of support provided to each student will be up to
a maximum of $900 if they are not local (more than three
hours of driving distance from the workshop site) and up to
$600 otherwise. The support is intended to defray, but not
necessarily to cover entirely, the costs of attending the
workshop. The costs include workshop registration (at the
student rate), hotel, and transportation.

A total of about 20 ~ 30 students will be supported.

The award will be handled via reimbursements. Each
legitimate expense must be documented with an original
official receipt (e.g., air ticket and hotel receipt).
Further details of the reimbursement procedure will be
communicated to the award recipients.

Applications

When applying for the WUWNet 2010 travel grant, a graduate
student needs to submit his/her vita, a short personal

   accomplishments to date;

   2. A description of areas in the ACM WUWNet 2010 program
   that would impact the student's research;

   3. The paper/poster/demo that the student is an author
   on, if applicable.

In addition, the student's advisor should send an email to
confirm that the student is a bona fide Ph.D. or M.S.
candidate in good standing.

Applications and the support letters should be emailed by
the applicant and the applicant's advisor, respectively, to
[email protected] with subject line "WUWNet10 Student

Support Letter". ASCII format is strongly preferred,
although PDF format is acceptable.

The travel grant committee is headed by Prof. Shengli Zhou
and Dr. Payman Arabshahi.

Eligibility: students must be from U.S. based institutions.
