Hi Mathias:
I'm not sure I really understand your question. If you could briefly
explain how you want your system to operate, I could let you know how
you can best achieve the effect you want using TIPC.
The tipc-config application doesn't do any translation of port id to
port name, it simply dumps the contents of TIPC's internal name table
which contains both pieces of information.
Regards,
Al

If the case is the other way around then, from client to server could
you then resolve the port name from the port id. The tipc-config does it
I guess in the name table lookup...?

Hi Mathias:
There is no easy way to translate a port id into an associated port
name. In most cases, this sort of thing should be unnecessary because
the client will send a message to the server by specifying a port name,
and then wait for the response -- which will come from a port having
that name. The only case where the port name of the server would be
unclear would be if the client was trying to communicate with multiple
servers, each having a different name. In this case, you could either
use multiple client ports (one per server) or get the server to
incorporate the name information into the message(s) it sends to the
client.
Please feel free to elaborate on your requirements if I've
misinterpreted your intentions.
Regards,
Al

Hi,
Can you get the port name from the port id, if so how?
This is the case when we recieved someting from a server to a client.

Mathias
