14th Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology
The 14th annual Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology
sponsored by the Kennesaw State University Department of Psychology will be held
at the Northwest Marriott Hotel, Atlanta GA (10 miles north of downtown Atlanta
on 1-75) on February 22-23, 2002. The opening keynote address by Dana Dunn
is entitled "Leading and Teaching in Psychology by Reading and Writing," while
the evening keynote by Janie Wilson is "Keeping It Simple: Teaching in Plain
English." Concurrent sessions will focus on teaching techniques and issues in
courses such as statistics, developmental psychology, cognitive, careers in
psychology, social psychology, and introductory psychology. Additional
sessions will address topics such as evaluating student learning in online
courses, mentoring the new faculty member, student course portfolios, defining
and assessing student learning outcomes for the undergraduate psychology degree,
and practical strategies for effective advisement. A poster session and
teaching idea exchange is also scheduled for participants. The
registration fee of $150 covers all meals and receptions during the
conference. A special reduced conference rate of $90 is available for high
school psychology teachers and graduate students. For additional
