I would recommend looking at a good Social Psychology text (Myers, for example) and reading the section on attractiveness in the chapter on interpersonal attraction. That will give you both an overview and a good list of references.

Ann teaches a very successful course here at The College of Saint Rose called The Psychology of Love, which is based on her scholarly research interests. If you do contact her, feel free to mention that I sent you to her. Please forgive me if I'm off base on your topic. Next Spring I'm planning on team-teaching an Honors course (with folks from Art, Music, and English) on perception of beauty. I'm a memory guy, so this is a bit outside my normal domain and I was wondering if any TIPSters have favorite references they could point out that would help me plan my portion of the course.
