Rick- I know we've been having hardware problems (warranty issues with a
disk) and this happened since the new disk was installed. It is
particularly odd since the same day I got email with subject lines I
wouldn't dare repeat on a public forum. :) Frankly I don't care as I
know how to hit the delete button :) and I'm pretty hard to offend after
20+ years of teaching!

Our IT folk haven't a clue except to add TIPS and/or the subject line to
my "safe" email lists. We aren't a Christian school although we have a
historical affiliation with one denomination. I suspect it was some well
intentioned member of IT made changes to our filters w/o discussing it
with anyone (apparently including the head of IT). As a faculty
representative to our IT committee, I took the question directly to the
head of the department this morning and he had no clue that anything
filtering something that banal would be there. His only thought was that
something in the "intelligence" (probability estimators, I suspect) got
tripped by the juxtaposition of teen and sex. (Someone suggested the
filter may have been excited by the idea). :)

I have to say I am surprised that spam filters at other universities are
objecting to that subject line alone. That is certainly a legitimate
line of inquiry at an institution of higher education. You definitely
need to point this out to your IT departments. I work at a Christian
college and there was no problem with Stephen's message. My daily
reading through the titles of my spam mail is almost always uneventful
with the exception of some broad distribution e-mails (like Microsoft
Office newsletters) that appear to be spam.
