Title: re: Ambien and altered states

Fascinating topic, especially since I've had related experiences with Ambien.  The first was when I was in the hospital following my myocardial infarction & stent placements. At one point I decided I needed to remove my catheters and leave the hospital. The nurses were less than pleased.

The 2nd time I was on vacation with my wife and had taken an Ambien before bedtime. I started making uncharacteristically lewd suggestions to her. While flattered, she realized something was wrong and got me to lay down where I promptly fell asleep.

On both occasions I had the Ambien on top of an opiate. In the hospital it was post MI/post surgical medication. On vacation it was oxy- (or hydro-?) codone I was taking for a pinched cervical nerve. In fact, I'd taken the Ambien to help me sleep with the discomfort caused by that condition.

In any event,  both were rather fascinating experiences. Upon awakening the next day I had a vague memory of both episodes. As for Freudian implications the only ones I can come up with for the 2 episodes are 1) I don't much care for tubes inserted in my body, and b) I've still got the hots for my wife after 37 years!
