But all other things aren't equal. Ph.D.s are overwhelmingly trained as future
scholars,
not as future classroom teachers. Certainly to know it is important, but just
because you
know it doesn't mean you know how to teach it. The skill set for research and
publication
are vastly different from those needed in the field of teaching/learning.
