According to Minton's (1998) "Commentary on: "New methods for the diagnosis of the intellectual level of subnormals" by Alfred Binet & Theodore Simon (1905) and "The uses of intelligence tests" by Lewis M. Terman (1916) available on Christopher D. Green's Classics in the History of Psychology (http://psychclassics.yorku.ca/Binet/commentary.htm), "A decade later, in the conservative climate ushered in by the election of Richard Nixon (who, coincidentally, had been a subject in Terman's longitudinal study), the environmentalist position was challenged." I haven't found any other mention of it. Does anyone have any interesting insights? My students have found a couple of obituaries which said Terman's studies showed gifted children were taller, better leaders, had better social skills, etc. The only statistically significant finding I recall is that "cheerier" people don't live as long. Any input from those who are more knowledgeable on the subject than I?
