Thanks to those who responded with ideas for fostering group interaction with the online format. Summarized here are some of the suggestions: 1. Blaine Peden suggested using a Wiki which allows students to easily work on a group document without a lot of uploading/downloading/saving activity. (I'm checking to see if my LMS's, Angel and Moodle, have a similar sort of "public space" already built in.) [WIKI sites: www.pbwiki.com www.wetpaint.com www.wikispaces.com ] 2. Michelle Everson described her successes using discussion boards for small groups, coordinated by group leaders and a supportive point system. You'll find it described at http://www.elearnmag.org/subpage.cfm?section=case_studies&article=35-1 3.
