I am left handed. Most theories of left-handedness point to pre-natally caused brain dysfunction, not genetic (see work of Mike Corballis and others). I can anecdotally attest to the fact that left-handed people have to develop ways of reversing points of view, probably leading to a greater sense of "gestalt". I can read and write backwards very well. I also have a fairly good talent for saying things backwords auditorily. Pretty gauche, I know, but good for party tricks.
