For those of you who think that the internet is making us 
stupid/illiterate/crazy/etc., you may be interested to know that they 
had similar concerns about movies in the 1890s (only they thought it 
caused the mysterious but pervasive ailment, neurasthenia).

Of course, when they finally convinced themselves that neurasthenia had 
nothing to do with nerves, that didn't stop them for a minute. They 
simply renamed the condition psychasthenia.
