FASD as a Special Topic Psych course or Dev Psych course
Hi everyone, I have been introduced with the idea of offering a course on FASD (fetal alcohol spectrum disorder) as a 100 or 200-level course. This would be an excellent offering for my College, as FASD is an unfortunate reality up here in the Yukon. The prevalence is high, and education is key to lowering it. This being said, I was wondering if anyone out there knows of such an existing course somewhere, and whether it is offered as a Psych course (Dev psych, or Special Topic psych) , an EDUC course, or anything else. We are also looking at using that course to develop a non-credit offering to the communities across the Yukon. Any info would be greatly appreciated (outlines, references, web links to similar offerings). To be clear, I will not offer the course, but am looking at helping organize the set up as Chair. Cheers. Jean-Marc Perreault I have watched some interesting videos on FASD.If you peruse through the drugs and developmental areas you may be able to find some. One interesting comment that I can remember is that the effects of alcohol on the developping brain are more detrimental than crack cocaine. It seems that the prognosis for crack cocaine babies is more positive.
