I apologize in advance for asking this question a few years ago....I was
hoping that other Tipsters at undergraduate liberal arts colleges could
give me some information about undergraduate teaching assistants in
psychology.
My questions are:
1. Do you have undergraduate TAs in psychology courses at your
university (and if so, what are they officially called: "lab
assistants", "teaching assistants")?
2. For what courses in psychology do they work? What kinds of duties do
they have?
3. Are students compensated with pay or class credit, or both? (We would
like to be able to offer our TAs a choice, because many prefer course
credit to minimum wage, but our academic affairs council is reluctant to
allow this unless we can make a strong case for an academic/scholarly
component; we're hoping that if we can find peer institutions that
allow this, we will have a stronger case).
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Traci
