Actually, it is of some use to read Crowley's police report. The Boston Globe originally had it posted on its website around July 20 but took it down shortly thereafter. A new version (redacted and revised) has been posted to the Boston Globe but Crowley's report is no longer part of it. See: http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Original_PDF/2009/07/21/0721docket_redacted_revised__1248200728_6644.pdf or http://tinyurl.com/nhb2fl Some searching on the internet has turned up Crowley's report on a (not surprisingly) right-wing website. See: http://www.amnation.com/vfr/Police%20report%20on%20Gates%20arrest.PDF Where does the truth lie? I don't know but I hope that someone records the conversation Crowley, Gates, and President Obama have over their beer(s). It might also be a good idea to watch Akira Kurosawa's "Rashomon" and/or show it in class if one is going to discuss the Gates-Crowley incident (come to think about it, maybe watching "The Ox-Bow Incident" might also be in order; for those unfamiliar with this film see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ox-Bow_Incident ). -Mike Palij New York University [email protected] --- To make changes to your subscription contact: Bill Southerly ([email protected])
