What you are asking students to do is an annotated bibliography. Why
don't you first ask the students to do an annotated bibliography and
then use that to do their lit review? That way the students must
actually read all of the articles and you see whether they
understand them and they also learn how to actually write a lit
review. The way you ask the students to write a lit review means
that they do not learn how to integrate the literature - a key part of
writing a literature review is that it is more than a summary of
articles.
