I do not have the reference, but I do have a newspaper clipping that described a study in which asthma and arthritis sufferers wrote about stressful events in their lives and showed either more improvement or less deterioration than sufferers who wrote about daily plans. It appeared in an issue of JAMA about 4/14/99. Two of the authors were Arthur Stone of the SUNY at Stony Brook School of Medicine and Joshua M. Smyth, assistant prof. of psychiatry at North Dakota State.
