Hi Rick,

I am a new TIPSter in need of assistance. I having been trying to post
this
message to the TIPS list, but keep receiving an "error" message. Since I
see
your name often on the list, I was hoping that you could forward my
message?
Thank you very much in advance.

Sincerely,
Amy Hackney

Hi TIPSters,

I discussed the effects of LSD (acid) with my 101 psych. class today. I
described
"flashbacks" and stated that there have been reports of flashbacks
anywhere
from a week to up to 5 years after last taking the drug. A student asked
what

was going on in the brain to produce these perceptual hallucinations if
the
drug was no longer in the body. Another student volunteered that everyone
has
the capacity to see flashes of color, afterimages, halos around objects,
etc.
on a regular basis, but that non-drug users simply do not pay attention to
these
images and thus do not perceive
them. On the other hand, acid users pay attention to these strange images
and
attribute them to their past use of acid--and are hence called flashbacks.
Is this explanation adequate or is more going on?

Thanks in advance!

Amy Hackney
