12th Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology
The 12th annual Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology sponsored by the
Kennesaw State University Department of Psychology will be held at the Northwest
Marriott Hotel, Atlanta GA (10 miles north of downtown Atlanta on 1-75) on February
18-19, 2000. Keynote speeches by Steve Davis and Harold Moon will address the
challenges and rewards of mentoring and the impact of psychology on pedagogy,
respectively. Concurrent sessions will focus on teaching techniques and issues in
courses such as statistics, tests & measurement, abnormal psychology, social
psychology, and introductory psychology. Additional sessions will include strategies
for fostering empathetic understanding among students, approaches to teaching
scientific psychology, developing and implementing a psychology fair for high school
students, non-traditional delivery formats, pedagogical and ethical issues in grading
practices, and psychologists' views on race and intelligence. A poster session and
teaching idea exchange is also scheduled for participants. The registration fee of
$130 covers all meals and receptions during the conference. Special reduced
conference rates are available for high school psychology teachers and graduate
