Greetings!

I am a new faculty member this year and am in charge of building a
psychology lab from basically ground zero. I have a team of a few
industrious undergraduates helping out with this - they have been busy
making contacts with several psychology departments in the Lower 48
(we're in Alaska). If you've been one of the lucky ones to have received
calls or emails from them, I thank you for your help. The response has
been tremendous.

They have asked that I post some questions with TIPS to further branch
out.

We would like to get some operant boxes and had a few questions:
(1) Does anyone have info (names, phone, URL, etc) on companies to
contact to start pricing - for boxes and/or software to run them?
(MedPC seems to be a popular favorite)
(2) Are there any brands for which you have positive or negative
reviews?
(3) Any suggestions of things we can "build" ourselves to save money?
(e.g. I've seen outer casings as dorm fridges with appropriate
drillings)

Our goal is to have equipment available for all sorts of undergraduate
projects. What other suggestions (mazes, open field, etc) would you
have for inclusion in a new psychology lab (not necessarily limited to
animal equipment)?

I followed the recent thread on software for computer stations with
great excitement. Any suggestions that were received off-list would be
very helpful!!

Thanks so much for your time!
Dani'
