The Department of Psychology at
California State University, Stanislaus, invites applications for three (3)
positions. For all positions, send a letter of interest, vitae (including
reprints and transcripts), teaching portfolio (including teaching statement,
syllabi, and teaching evaluation summaries), and three letters of
recommendation to Dr. Victoria Cortez (Child Development) or Dr. Harold
Stanislaw (Biological Bases) ; Department of Psychology; California State

Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. Tenure-track
Assistant or Associate Professor in Child Development, to begin Spring 2001
(preferred) or Fall 2001. Primary responsibility is to teach and contribute to
building a daytime child development program at the California State
University, Stanislaus-Stockton, but the individual will have departmental and
university responsibilities, and perhaps teaching responsibilities, at the main
Turlock campus as well. A Ph.D. in Child Development, Developmental Psychology,
or related field with strong background in theory, research, and application is
required. At advanced levels, a demonstrated record of scholarship is expected.
We are seeking an individual with expertise in Cross/Multi-Cultural
Development, Preschool Education, or Early Literacy. Applicants should have
ability to teach courses such as Infancy and Early Development, Adolescence,
Early Cognitive/Social Emotional Development, Developmental Research Methods,
Developmental Programs, Developmental Assessment and Program Administration.
Additional responsibilities include program development, supervision of Child
Development interns, partnership with other university programs and with the
regional community, and participation as a member of the CSUS Child Development
Program. Bilingual, English/Spanish, applicants are encouraged to apply.

Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Child Development, to begin Fall 2001.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Child Development, Developmental Psychology,
or related area with a strong background in theory, research and application.
Ideal candidate should have the ability to teach courses such as Infant and
Early Development, Adolescence, and Early Cognitive/Social Emotional
Development, as well as teach laboratory/application courses such Developmental
Assessment and Guidance and Management. Specialization in the any of the
following areas is desirable: social services, multicultural development,
biological development, or cognitive development. Advising students,
supervising internships and assisting in cur-ricular planning and
decision-making is required. This position may also require teaching courses at
California State University, Stanislaus-Stockton.

Tenure-track Assistant
Professor in Biological Bases of Behavior, to begin Fall 2001. The successful
applicantŐs primary responsibility will be to teach undergraduate lecture and
laboratory courses in such areas as physiological psychology, neuropsychology,
comparative psychology, and perception. The successful applicant will also be
expected to advise students, maintain an active research program, and serve on
a variety of departmental and University committees. The ideal candidate will
have a Ph.D. in an area of psychology with a biological emphasis. The area of
specialization is less important than the ability to teach effectively and
engage students in research and other scholarly activities. Strong commitments
to curriculum development and participation in departmental affairs are also
