When I checked out Prezi, it was love at first glance. But after a brief trial, I decided it wasn't for me. These are the problems I saw 1. You don't quite "own" your presentation files. You have to rely on either always logging into the Prezi website and/or paying the on-going license fee. I feel much more comfortable putting my work into a file format that I will always be able to open/edit/use via PowerPoint or Open Office. 2. Prezi doesn't convert easily to any hard coy formats. I like to be able to quickly convert my PPts into an outline/handout. You can't do that with Prezi. I also like the option to post my PPt online in pdf format-again, not available with Prezi. 3. If you post your presentations online, Prezi is not ADA compliant (i.e., does not work with a screen reader). This, to me, is an absolute deal breaker. 4. Prezi seems best geared to presentations for a single class period. I prefer to create a single presentation per chapter (3-4 class periods), which gets unwieldy on Prezi. 5. Learning curve aside, moving existing PPt content into Prezi is a major undertaking. Similarly, going back to make substantial changes to a presentation is much easier in PPt than Prezi. Thanks for reminding us of Prezi. After reviewing it, I realized that many of the things I like about it can be done in PPt with a little creativity. Next time I re-vamp my PPt slides, I need to remember to reconsider just how I use it and take the next step.
