Religion may play an essential role in the lives of some immigrants
especially if the church provides an avenue for assimilation and integration
into the host country.I find this to be true for catholics from the Americas
and Asia.It provides help with immigration services and a sense of
collectivism congruent with cultural overtones. Some immigrants could be viewed
as down right atheistic especially from Cuba.On the other hand protestantism is
making inroads in the once predominantly catholic Americas because the
protestants in the Americas offer social services that the catholic churches do
not.
Haitian,Jamaican, and other caribbean ministers have high visibility among the
black community in contrast to other American churches.Btw, why the British use
the term Anglican and in the U.S it is referred to as Episcopalian?
Is Angican used in Canada?
