Annette: No study is perfect, but I like the one cited below. It has an encouraging message for our students--couples show greater improvement in the quality of their marriage when working with a mental health professional than with a good self-help book.

It is very difficult in trying to teach students to be good consumers of research that there really is something out there that they can safely believe in, when there is so much that is very poor. I almost feel like a need a dose of "positive research" (as a corollary to positive psychology) for use in teaching. So, does anyone have some recent research they can refer to that is nice, clean, understandable and has some impact (i.e., not fairly trivial). Annette Annette Kujawski Taylor, Ph. D.
