My experiences are the same as Doug's. SONA is excellent and you can not only manage things much better but you do things like set automatic reminders (while keeping anonymity) for students study appointments. That really cut down on students' missing appointments. It has made a huge difference with respect to ease of managing but also ease for the students of figuring out how to sign up for studies, receiving credit, etc. Marie

I was surprised to see Experimetrix still available because I thought they were bought out by Sona (they are owned by Sona but appear to continue to offer Experimetrix). Both programs ran smoothly on our campus. The office of research along with departments all kick in to pay for the service which will be a consideration. I teach PSYC 101 almost every semester and must cope with the frustrations of students when a computer system doesn't work and SONA rarely has problems. From a compliance standpoint running all recruiting though SONA serves as a good check for the IRB which must validate a study before it can go live on the system (part of the reason the office of research pays for the product). It works smoothly from both the instructor and the researcher side. The integrated survey solution is sub-optimal but we also have a campus-wide contract with PsychData for on-line surveys. There will be some administration time, particularly when you are just starting but once it is up and running Sona is very nice.
