Nate obtained the original instrument from Inbar and Lammers and adapted it to meet some of these concerns. For example, the original Inbar Lammers instrument asked only about discrimination towards conservatives, while Nate=E2=80=99s survey is balanced by including questions about discrimination towards liberals. In addition, Nate is interested in surveying a wider selection of faculty in psychology, as the original study was limited to those in the Personality and Social Psychology area. This is one of two studies he hopes to complete in this area. He is simultaneously surveying faculty at our home institution, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, across all disciplines. Because Cal Poly has programs such as Agriculture, Engineering, and Business that generally have more conservative faculty, we believe that this would provide an interesting backdrop to the study among psychologists.
