Hello Tipsters:

So, as I approach retirement I've tried to think about how to combine my love
for teaching and for travel.

How about being entrepreneurial and developing a new career category of being a
professional sabbatical replacement?

Starting this coming fall I will be available every fall for the next five
years and wish to fill that time with teaching in places I've never lived
before. After the five years of phase-out at my current institution I would
then continue to do this type of filling-in on a full time basis.

If any tipsters know of any institutions looking for a sabbatical replacement
(or simply had a failed search and needs a one-semester full-time fill-in) for
fall 2014 I would appreciate if you could spread the word. Of course, I could
also be less than full time, but nearly full time. I understand about the
problems institutions have with benefits if they hire me full time and frankly,
I don't need the benefits at this point. I do need an income ;)

I am most able to teach cognitive courses (cognition/human memory) as well as
research methods, intro and upper division research methods courses. However, I
have been conscripted over the years to teach lifespan development (I had a
three year postdoc in cognitive aging which led me to teach lifespan many times
during my adjunct days as well as recently on semester at sea) as well as
social and potentially cross-cultural. In addition, I was the point person for
our college's behavioral and social science departments for assessment so I
have a background in helping departments develop assessment plans. I have
flipped my intro class and would love to share that experience. Finally, a
large institution would be desirable as I would like to continue my research
program on misconceptions in psychology and it would be so nice to get a large
sample size. It has been a challenge at a small, private, liberal arts college
to have to collect data piece meal.

I can provide references and a CV at a moment's notice.

Please spread the word. If any tipsters have other ideas on how to spread the
word other than through teaching list I would be interested in hearing them
backchannel.
