There is a social phenomena that I believe has been unjustly
ignored by psychologists -- it is the Idiotarod. For those who
are not familiar with the Idiotarod, some background can be
obtained from the following Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiotarod
As made clear in the entry, the Idiotarod takes place across
the U.S. and Canada. Here is a news piece on the Idiotarod
held in St. Louis in 2013:

NYC Tipsters and psychologists are really lucky because
the NYC version of the Idiotarod will be held TOMORROW
(01/25/2014). It might be too late to get a team together
(but some psychologists are really, really good at throwing
together a bunch of people to do some really, really
ridiculous things; the deadline to register a team was
yesterday, Thursday but we all know how good psychologists
are at persuasion and getting their way ;-) but one can always
be an observer/spectator.
The official website for the NYC Idiotarod can be accessed
here:
http://www.idiotarodnyc.com/
Time Out New York has more info than the above website;
see:
http://www.timeout.com/newyork/things-to-do/idiotarod?cmpid=NY+Fri+012414

Who knows, maybe you'll get a picture of yourself in a classy
place like National Geographic; see:
http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/american-festivals/idiotarod-photos/

Searching the YouTube for Idiotarod videos should prove to be
quite rewarding (depending upon your sense of humor) as well
as suggesting good/useful/fun strategies for sabotaging other
participants in the Idiotarod! ;-)
