Ignoring, for the moment, Michael’s typically provocative way of bringing up 
these kinds of issues, there is an interesting caveat to the idea that people 
of African heritage are superior distance runners. It doesn’t apply to all 
Africans. In fact, it applies only to a very narrow group located in east 
Africa: the Kalenjin people of southern Sudan, western Ethiopia, and western 
Kenya. The theories for why they are such great distance runners is are many 
and varied (thin ankles, high pain tolerance, a centuries-old culture of 
running). It seems to be a genetic variation specific to that group though, so 
far as I know, it has not been isolated in their genome as yet. To learn more,
