Because demonstrating how badly both the science-publication system and the science-journalism profession are now failing us is FAR more important than the concern that someone might mis-cite this work in the future (indeed, their doing so would only prove the point of this finding even further). Journalists are indeed held to a different standard — one that enables important truths to be told.
