WAG: Tivo pays good money for the schedule information out 2 weeks and all the ancillary information therein. I believe friends have told me that the Comcast and DirecTV receivers had less than a week of program information at any given time.
DirecTV paid Tivo about $1.00 per subscriber, which is a lot of $$ per month, but they aren't going to go about replacing all those boxes instantly, as the payback would be very long. Also, one could likely still request a Tivo box even after their change over for a while. The market needs another competitor to cable besides Dish, and DirecTV. My Comcast + Tivo bill is over $80.00 a month and DirectTV would be only a few dollars less after I get 3 receivers in the house, TIVO, HD channels, installation, and equipment costs.
