Once upon a time Chad shaped the electrons to say... > What do you need to view the files/ movies on a tivo hard drive? I > have two Direct TV TiVo's I got for cheap.
Recordings on the drive are encrypted and cannot be read by another device. There are hacks you can do to disable the encryption on future recordings, but existing recordings on the drive are locked up. If you're going to hack the DirecTiVo to enable network support, etc, look into things like TiVoWeb Plus. The forums at DealDatabase.com are a good place to get TiVo hacking info. > I may just junk the receivers out because I heard rumor that Direct TV > won't activate a TiVo based DVR anymore since they have their own kind > now. As far as I know that is not true. They just recently deployed a new software update for DirecTiVos that added more features. -MZ -- megazone-at-megazone.org http://www.MegaZone.org/ Gweep, Geek, Human, me. http://www.GizmoLovers.com/ http://www.Eyrie-Productions.com/ -><- Hail Eris "A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men" 508-852-2171
