want procmail for final delviery, not tmda

My initial search of the lists and docs does not address my questions:
I have extensive procmail delivery recipies. I want to use them for final 
deliver to Maildirs. How can I have the output of tmda (whatever that is, 
I'm not running it yet) go to procmail? 

Basically, I want a filter with bells and whistles (tmda in this case) to 
"sit between" my .forward and .procmailrc files. My MTA is Postfix. The docs 
seem to hint tmda should be used for local delivery. I don't want this.
