Try upgrading to TMDA 0.81, as it has improved virtual domain support. I'm not sure if this will solve your problem, but in any case, 0.81 is the version that matches the HOWTO in the docs. Earlier versions may not work as the HOWTO describes.
Ok, I upgraded to TMDA 0.81, but that didn't change anything. As best I can tell tmda-filter thinks the user is the virtual domains user (called vmail on my system), but I need it to execute as the virtual user chris_berry(or whatever other user is to recieve email). I don't think this is a TMDA bug, just a misconfiguration on my part, any clue on how I do that?
