I think we're on the same page.  Where you say, "Some auto-responders leave
absolutely no indication whatsoever that they are machine generated
messages...", those are the ones I'm looking to match.  8-)

Well, nothing I'd call reliable.  In looking through some of the messages I
have laying around, I came up with things like:

Reply-To: noreply@
Return-Path: errors@
Subject: Out of Office AutoReply: 

Those are strings I saw in some messages my TMDA challenged.  I would NOT
suggest adopting them globally.  I'm not even sure they match more than one
message in my own mass of thousands in pending.  I think TMDA's existing
checks are best (and I appreciate your long detailed description of them!),
but I wondered if someone had not-nearly-best patterns that worked for
them.

Those are the ones I'm trying to detect.  I'll muddle along with my own
analysis.  Maybe I should write something to look at this stuff for me...
