Thanks to all who replied on this issue, I think I've gotten over the
hurdle.
By running tmda "normally" (without my own wrappers) I was able to dump
the environment both pre-tmda and processing the confirmation response.
The most notable items turned out to be:
LOCAL = markjr-confirm-1133204764.11555.945ca2
EXTENSION = confirm-1133204764.11555.945ca2
which were not being set by my wrapper when the email challenge was
being confirmed.
At this point it is now confirming as expected and and outputting the
released mail to my other wrapper script.
